After yesterday's mammoth hike, many of us at the hostel reassured each other that we had a far easier day ahead. Most guidebooks suggested the hike from Roncesvalles to Larrasoaña, while as long as the first day's hike, would be much less rigorous. We looked forward to a leisurely day of walking mainly downhill. Though the hike did turn out to be easier compared to the first day, there were still a few monster hills to get the blood pumping. Well, we are hiking through the Pyrenees after all!

So the challenges continued, but so did the gorgeous views. We crossed a couple of beautiful stone bridges, one in Zubiri and one as we entered our destination city, Larrasoaña. At Zubiri many of us 'peregrinos' took the opportunity to take off our shoes and wade into the cool water by the bridge while basking in the sunshine.

There wasn't much of a kitchen at the hostel, we all spent the evening at a nearby restaurant enjoying drinks, conversation about the day's hike and, later on in the evening, a pilgrim's meal for 12 euros each. I chose the garlic soup, fish and rice pudding and it was delicious!
