We appear to be hiking out of the Pyrenees. On the plus side this means less changes in altitude, or more specifically, less uphill climbing. Yay! It also means more city hiking - busy streets, highways, urban noise. While I'm missing the mountain vistas and pastoral landscapes we do have easier access to food and supplies.
We walked through Pamplona today - the largest city that we'll pass through on the Camino. Though it was pretty exciting to walk the streets infamous for the yearly 'Running of the Bulls' - not to mention Pamploma being one of Hemingway's favourite haunts - I was happy to get through the city and back to quieter streets and byways.
We're spending the night in a lovely hostel in Cizur Menor, just outside Pamploma. It's got a large courtyard with lots of places to kick back and relax and is run by a sweet, friendly woman who seems very keen to make sure we're comfortable and enjoying our stay. Mother nature is doing her part to make our stay is extra special too, we're finishing off the night with a fabulous lightning storm! Many of us are sitting outside enjoying the show and I'm having a hard time tearing myself away to go to sleep. Ah, who am I kidding, I'm so ready for bed! Good night!
